What is Unfair Four?
Unfair Four is a free, modded take on the classic four-in-a-row board game — the one where you drop discs into a seven-column grid and try to line up four of your colour, across, down, or diagonally. The twist is the cheat deck. Every so often, the game deals a random cheat card to one player. Sometimes you get to nuke the whole board. Sometimes the bot does. It's four in a row with chaotic power-ups, and no, it isn't fair. That's the name.
If you've ever wished four in a row had cheat codes, power-ups, or a big red "delete everything" button, this is that game. Play it free in your browser — no download, no signup — against a bot on easy, medium, or hard.
The cheat deck
Twenty-five power-up cards, from common nuisances to three super-rare legendaries. A sample of what can go wrong (or right):
- 🌊 Tsunami (legendary) — a wave washes away every enemy disc on the board.
- 👥 Clone Army (legendary) — every disc you own spawns a copy above it.
- 🎩 Puppet Master (legendary) — you place your opponent's next disc for them.
- ☢️ The Nuke — wipes every disc off the board, mid-game.
- 🔃 Gravity Flip — the whole board turns upside down and resettles.
- 🧨 The Grenade — one enemy disc explodes, taking all its neighbours.
- 🔄 Uno Reverse — every disc on the board switches sides.
- 🎣 The Yoink — steal an enemy disc clean off the board.
- 🎭 Turncoat — repaint an enemy disc to your colour.
- 🏗️ The Crane — place a disc in any empty cell. Gravity is optional.
- 🧲 The Magnet — every disc slides hard left and piles up.
- ➡️ Conveyor Belt — all columns shuffle one seat to the right.
- 🧴 Superglue — a whole column fuses into dead grey sludge.
- 🚽 The Flush — an entire column goes down the drain.
- ☠️ The Plague — your opponent's three oldest discs crumble to dust.
- 😴 The Nap — your opponent skips a turn. They simply doze off.
- ✌️ Double Drop — two discs in one turn.
- 🚧 The Bouncer — drops a barrier that blocks a column for two turns.
- 🧈 Butterfingers — their next disc slips into a neighbouring column.
How to play four in a row, the unfair way
Click a column to drop a disc. Line up four to win. When a cheat card lands in your lap, use it immediately or hold it for the perfect moment — the bot gets no such patience and cheats on sight. The bot plays properly, too: it takes winning moves and blocks your three-in-a-row, so you can't just stack four and walk away. Choose Easy if you want the cheat cards on your side, Hard if you want the bot to hog them.
What's next
Online matchmaking and invite-a-friend links are in the works, so you can inflict all of this modded, cheat-powered chaos on a real person. For now, the bot takes the abuse.
